Exoscan and Flexscan were designed for use in the aerospace industry
With years of experience applying FTIR to the aerospace industry, A2 Technologies has products to help address application problems in R&D, manufacturing and maintenance for this important industry.
Our Exoscan and Flexscan hand held systems were designed for use in the aerospace industry. With their exceptional performance, compact size and a range of sampling interfaces such as external, grazing angle and our newest technology, diffuse reflectance, these analyzers serve a broad range of analysis needs in commercial aircraft manufacturing and maintenance as well as space vehicle R&D.
As examples, the Exoscan and Flexscan systems effectively analyze carbon fiber – resin based composites for thermal, UV or chemical damage and degradation. The development of the diffuse reflectance sampling interface for our hand-held analyzers has greatly enhanced the ability of FTIR to detect deleterious processes in composites. Our grazing angle interface is aiding in the detection and remediation of surface contamination such as silicone or hydrocarbon oil on metal surfaces, affording better metal-to-metal and metal-to-nonmetal bonding processes.
In 2008, the Federal Aviation Administration awarded a major research contract to A2 Technologies to thoroughly evaluate the potential of hand-held FTIR as a non-destructive inspection tool for the new generation of composite based commercial aircraft.
